We support clients with ABI in regaining control over daily life and functioning as independently as possible. We do this by practising everyday activities that are important to you. In doing so, we may re-train certain skills or teach compensatory strategies.
Occupational therapy may also include advice on home adaptations, coping with fatigue, emotional challenges, and return-to-work rehabilitation.
“After my stroke, things that used to be completely automatic became very difficult. I couldn’t even hold a pen anymore, and I became exhausted by almost everything I did. It was frustrating. Irene gradually taught me how to use my hand again and how to structure my day so I would not become so drained. She also helped me break tasks down into small steps. Now I can manage my household and work again in my own way.”
